CHARLES HOLZER FAMILY VISIT TO LONDON
(from Charles Holzer)
I recently had the privilege of taking Ashley and the kids to London, where we enjoyed some incredible live music at the Palladium, including performances by Elvis Costello and Engelbert Humperdinck. It was a treat to experience these shows as a family, and I felt incredibly lucky to be there.
However, the pinnacle of our visit was attending the Chelsea vs. West Ham United football match. Stepping into the stadium brought back a flood of memories, especially since the last time we were there was for the closing ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games, when Ashley was competing. It was a special moment, filled with nostalgia, as we reflected on her remarkable journey as an Olympic athlete.
Being at the match also stirred some deep emotions for me. My father, who passed away in 2017, was a huge football fan, and being in that stadium made me think of him. It reminded me of all the times we shared watching games together. It also brought to mind Ashley’s father, who passed away in 2009. It was a poignant experience, reflecting on these great men and how much they meant to our family.
This visit to London wasn’t just about music and football; it was about connecting with memories and celebrating those we’ve lost.
